A gloss coat is yet another layer of resin applied to the board after a hotcoat is applied and sanded down. November 2 2018 pani. It is another form of resin also with a wax solution. Some builders find an epoxy gloss coat with no sanding or buffing acceptable.

Still plan on about 1oz of mixed material per foot of surfboard length and don t forget about your 2 capfuls of additive f to help the resin flow evenly. It simply takes twice as much work to sand and buff it use 100 grit at start.

The gloss coat can come in two forms sanded gloss and polished gloss. Do not use additive f in anything but the gloss coat if glossing. Since you already have a smooth sanded hot coat you need a little bit less resin for your gloss coat. The gloss coat may be rejected if the sand coat resin with additive f has cured.
